La Biennale del Colore in Venice | Zero Edition

Thursday, September 10th 2020: Acting Colors in Arts and Senses

The representation of the color RED in a unique chromatic journey in the city of Venice.

The initiative was born from an idea of Riccardo Bisazza, President of Orsoni Venezia 1888, renowned Color Designer Vicky Syriopoulou and Giorgio Tartaro, Journalist, Lecturer and TV presenter. Gianfelice Facchetti, actor and theater director, narrated the color red with a suggestive performance.

Paying tribute to the city of Venice and the historic Biennale, La Biennale del Colore aims at celebrating color in a synaesthetic, holistic way. An immersive journey guided by art to experience color in an unprecedented way by seeing it, touching it, tasting it, smelling it, and listening to it. The Zero Edition focused on the color red, which was represented and interpreted by authoritative figures in various artistic fields, transforming guests into the very protagonists of the sensory performance by involving each of their 5 senses.

The drink is a refined and contemporary reinterpretation of the world-famous Venetian Spritz. An entirely red-themed Cooking Show stimulated guests’ palates, who were invited to taste delicacies from the Venetian cuisine prepared exclusively with locally sourced products. The dishes, strictly red but free of color additives, offered a unique experience for the palate in which flavors and tastes triumphed with color.

A chromatic path accompanied guests in discovering the infinite forms that the red color can assume. From the Furnace to the Color Library where color becomes tangible in the “glass books” that are stored in 3,500 shades of Venetian smalti since 1888. The audiovisual project was curated by the Venice Academy of Fine Arts: Gaetano Mainenti, Professor of Decoration, for the videos and Claudia Rossini for the photo shoot. The Zero Edition also saw the participation of RAI (Radiotelevisione Italiana Spa).
