Terrazzo – An Italian Tradition – Made in America

Of the people, by the people, for the people! “Made in the USA” is an attractive proposition for thoughtful manufacturers who want to help boost the nation’s economy, create jobs, and protect our environment by providing domestically-produced sustainable goods. At TREND Group, we’ve sought to do just that with our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sebring, Florida.

As one of the only companies in the world to manufacture and distribute our own terrazzo flooring & home design products, our plant in Sebring encompasses 160,000 square feet or roughly the size of three football fields. Now serving as the worldwide source of our proprietary engineered stone, our Sebring operation helps to stimulate the local economy, with our workers producing over 8 million square feet of terrazzo surfaces per year. Our meticulous manufacturing protocols ensure these agglomerate and recycled glass products reach 78% post-consumer recycled content and require 60% less raw material to make. Mission Accomplished.

Now let’s take a bit of a tour. As you drive up to the Sebring plant, you’ll notice a vibrantly colored mosaic wall encircling the property. Look closely and you’ll see it honors the Sebring International Raceway, one of the oldest race tracks in the nation.  We found its creation a unique way to introduce ourselves (and what we do) to the community. It also serves as a nod to the Italian mosaic artisans who invented terrazzo in the sixteenth century.

Once inside the facility, you’ll find it filled with machinery that washes and crushes recycled and raw materials into the different sizes needed to create our wide variety of engineered stone lines. Interior inventory bins hold all of the various stones and glass used to make our agglomerate and recycled glass products. Once all materials are combined and formed, kilns are used to cure the slabs in order to attain properties of resistance to stain and impact. Procedural checks for quality control and structural strength follow are employed, then it’s on to the diamond polishing line for finishing touches before being cut to size and sorted into a variety of grades.

Simply spectacular, it’s clear that we pay tremendous attention to detail. In fact, we are the only terrazzo producer to make a large number of polishing heads in-house to ensure our finished products meet our exacting standards. Plus, we back the quality of our terrazzo engineered stone products with a lifetime limited warranty.

Committed to providing our customers with unlimited design options, Sebring never sleeps with production taking place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We manufacture over 8 million square feet of terrazzo agglomerate surfaces each year in a vast amount of styles and colors. Elegantly crafted, we employ a talented staff of artisans to expertly hand-cut our mosaic tiles based on individual customer taste. With TREND Group, the design possibilities are endless!

As a bonus, our green product lines meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating criteria for material and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation, and design. Already setting an industry benchmark for the use of post-consumer recycled content in our products, our facilities are designed with sophisticated water recycling systems to significantly reduce water consumption and the proliferation of pollutants. At TREND Group, we embrace recyclable or reusable packaging, with overall waste produced specifically at the Sebring, Florida plant cut by over 22%.
